WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (July 28, 2016) – For the sixth consecutive year, Southland Park Gaming & Racing will host its Mid-South Great Steak Cook-off featuring rock legends Ratt with special guests Jack Russell’s Great White on Saturday, October 15th

New to this year’s event is a second day of entertainment on Sunday, October 16th headlined by country duo Thompson Square, with support from a few recent finalists from NBC’s The Voice, including the Mid-South’s own Barrett Baber, season 8 runner-up Meghan Linsey and soulful singer-songwriter Sarah Potenza.

Held on the grounds of Southland Park, the Mid South Great Steak Cook-off has grown each year of existence with more than 80 teams from five different states competing in 2015 for a share of $7,500 in prize money.  The 2016 prize pool has pushed to more than $10,000.

The 2016 version of the event promises to be one of the most exciting yet and features multi-platinum rock band, Ratt, whose sound helped pioneer Hollywood’s legendary Sunset Strip sound and scene in the 1980’s.  Ratt produced albums certified as gold, platinum and multi-platinum behind hit singles like “Round and Round” and “Lay it Down.”

Sunday’s entertainment proves to be an exciting contrast as Southland Park welcomes American country music duo Thompson Square, whose two albums have produced a combined ten chart singles on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts.  Of these singles, two – “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not” and “If I Didn’t Have You” – have reached number one.

"We are extremely excited to announce the entertainment lineup for the 2016 Mid-South Great Steak Cook-off," said Troy Keeping, president and general manager.  "This exciting event has grown in popularity each year, and with the addition of a second day of entertainment, we're confident that this year's lineup will share the fun we have at Southland Park with even more mid-southerners."

Tickets for the event will go on sale at noon on Monday, August 1 and are available for just $30 for a two-day ticket, with single day passes available for $20, at www.southlandpark.com, www.ticketmaster.com or by visiting Guest Services at Southland Park.
