Valero Energy Foundation partners with Knowledge Quest to Giveaway 200 Technology Devices!

Memphis, TN - On Friday April 17, 2020, Knowledge Quest will reward 200 program participants with a new technology device, donated by Valero Energy Foundation. Devices started arriving today and will be distributed Friday and Saturday to families.

This is one of many outreach initiatives that Knowledge Quest has completed this month in response to COVID-19 and is operating on a virtual platform. We have scheduled 19 extended learning sessions (total) over four days among six unique classes; 3 Parents-focused; and 3 Family-centered activities have also been scheduled. These approximately 25 virtual, group offerings per week will be in addition to the direct tele-communications with individual parents.

Knowledge Quest is a nonprofit organization that has actively promoted youth and community development in South Memphis for over twenty years. The organization serves youth and their families primarily residing in the 38126 and 38106 zip codes of Memphis, TN from three sites within a 2-mile corridor along Walker Avenue known as the "Knowledge Quest Kids Zone.

Our program services are centered around helping families become more self-sufficient and subsequently, lift them out of poverty. We serve a total of 250 families annually by offering intensive case management services using the 4 components of the 2-Gen Approach: building social capital, increasing workforce training, education and connecting to higher learning opportunities, increasing economic supports through job search and financial literacy, and advancing health and wellbeing.

What: 200 age-appropriate devices (tablets and laptops) to help equip the children within the households.
