After more than a decade at the Overton Park Conservancy, Executive Director Tina Sullivan has stepped down from her position to allow for new leadership to carry the park forward. Under Tina’s visionary leadership, Overton Park has flourished, becoming a beloved urban green space and a hub for community engagement, education, and recreation.

As the Conservancy prepares to celebrate Sullivan’s extraordinary contributions, the upcoming "A Magical Night" Gala on Thursday, October 26th, will honor her legacy and the lasting impact she has made on the Memphis community. This annual event promises an enchanting evening under the stars, where park supporters will come together to recognize Tina’s immense contributions to the park’s revitalization and contribute to the park’s continued growth. Guests at the event will have the opportunity to honor Tina’s enduring legacy and the lasting impact she has had on the Memphis community.

“Reflecting on my time at Overton Park Conservancy, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the Memphis community’s unwavering support. I am honored to have been part of such a remarkable journey, and I am excited to see how Overton Park will continue to serve as a vibrant gathering place that fosters community spirit and celebrates our city’s natural beauty,” remarks Sullivan.

Since its founding in 2012, Overton Park Conservancy has raised more than $21 million for park care and capital improvements, including a $4 million renovation of the historic nine-hole golf course. Under Sullivan’s guidance, Overton Park has grown into a thriving center of community, welcoming over 1.3 million visitors annually.

Key initiatives such as the construction of the Bike Gate arch, Rainbow Lake Playground, and artistic gateways into the Old Forest have helped Overton Park become a central city asset. The Conservancy has also launched a suite of nature-focused programs and hosted over 100 events in 2023 alone, bringing families and schools together to explore the park’s unique urban ecosystem.

“Tina has set a powerful example of leadership and community spirit that I am honored to follow. I am incredibly grateful for her guidance and for the strong foundation she has laid, and I am eager to continue her work in ensuring that Overton Park remains a treasured place for everyone in Memphis to enjoy,” affirms newly appointed Executive Director Kaci Murley.

Funds raised from "A Magical Night" will support the Conservancy’s ongoing efforts to preserve and enhance Overton Park’s 184 acres, including landmark areas such as the Greensward, the formal gardens, and the Old Forest State Natural Area.
