JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF MEMPHIS RECEIVES $10,000 GRANT FROM SIMMONS FIRST FOUNDATION

Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South was recently awarded a $10,000 grant by the Simmons First Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Simmons Bank.

“We have always enjoyed partnering with Simmons Bank and we’re particularly excited about this grant as we are the first recipient in Memphis to receive such support from the Simmons First Foundation,” says Leigh Mansberg, president and CEO of Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South. “Their grant will support our JA Inspire Program, designed specifically to encourage and educate local middle school students.”

JA Inspire gives middle school students a creative look at various job options through a combination of classroom learning and robust, interactive job exploration. This program brings together the business community and local schools to help launch middle school students into high school, college and careers beyond. With the help of community partners, such as the Simmons First Foundation, JA plans to grow JA Inspire exponentially over the next year. In May of 2021, JA will virtually host hundreds of eighth graders from Shelby County Schools’ College, Career and Technical Education program, along with hundreds of students from charter and independent school partners, for the nonprofit’s inaugural JA Inspire event. JA Inspire is being offered virtually to safely support the needs of local educators and their participating students in grades 6-8.

"As financial professionals, the team at Simmons Bank is passionate about fostering the financial education of tomorrow’s business and community leaders," said Brandon Cooper, Southwest Tennessee market president for Simmons Bank. "We are honored to partner with Junior Achievement via the Simmons First Foundation so that, together, we can help provide this real-world education to students in our great city.”
