TREZEVANT SENIORS COMPLETE 21-DAY HEALTH CHALLENGE
(Memphis, TN) - On June 24, eleven residents from Trezevant were recognized for completing a 21-day health challenge. The challenge, led by Trezevant Fitness Coordinator Rinnie Wood, consisted of daily tracking of meals and physical activity with 1 point earned for every 10 minutes of activity. Trezevant resident Jack Richbourg earned 200 points, the most of any participating resident and resident Patty Calvert lost 8 pounds, the most of any challenge participant.
"This is the second time Trezevant has done the 21-day challenge," says Wood. "The person who won the last time has since lost a total of 28 pounds by creating a new, healthy lifestyle. Seniors are looking for ways to feel their best and are determined to make changes. The 21-day challenge gives them a jumpstart."
During the awards ceremony, residents shared what was most helpful, most challenging, and how they felt before and after the challenge.
"Before I did the 21-day challenge, I just felt full," says resident Betty Carter. "By the end, I felt better, and not only that - I didn't eat sweets or bread for 21 days. Now I can live without them!"
Participants agreed that one of the most rewarding aspects of the 21-day challenge was the community it formed.
"It's important to us and to our residents to stay active in mind, body and spirit," says Wood. "I'm inspired by our residents' commitment to continue learning, growing, and engaging in health throughout their lives.
