IMC Companies Celebrates National Driver Appreciation Week

IMC Companies recently held weeklong activities for its drivers during National Driver Appreciation Week in September. To help celebrate the observance, drivers were provided with lunch, snacks and gifts throughout the week to showcase the company’s appreciation for its 2,000 drivers nationwide. Throughout the week, drivers and leadership were able to visit with each other while remaining socially distanced.

"This is a particularly poignant year to show these drivers our appreciation for everything they do," says said Mark H. George, Chairman of IMC Companies. "The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted what many already knew to be true – that truck drivers are some of America’s greatest heroes."

Drivers across the nation bring food and supplies from ports to store shelves every day. According to the American Trucking Association, in just one day without drivers, stores shelves would begin to empty, hospitals would begin to run out of medicine, gas stations would start to run out of fuel, and many people would be missing essentials they need in order to live.

There is currently a shortage of 90,000 truck drivers in America. Nearly one million new drivers will be needed between now and 2030 to keep up with the national supply chain needs. For now, the executives at IMC Companies feel fortunate to be able to honor their drivers during this annual observance, highlighting those that are central to keeping America moving forward.
