(Memphis, TN) - Agape Child & Family Services, a faith-based, non-profit organization dedicated to providing children and families in Memphis with healthy homes, has launched a $6 million campaign themed Love Your Neighborhood. The campaign is an effort to fund the agency’s growth through the year 2020. Agape was recently awarded a state contract to extend its services to thousands more Memphians in under-resourced communities via a two-generational model that wholly supports parents and children with a host of wraparound services. In order to meet this challenge, the non-profit is seeking significant financial support.

“The theme Love Your Neighborhood speaks to our desire to engage local businesses, organizations and individuals to support children and families right here in Memphis,” says David Jordan, president and CEO of Agape. “Families here struggle with challenges such as poverty, homelessness, education, job skills and parenting skills. We’re seeing significant, positive changes in the communities we serve such as an increase in school attendance, better grades, increased parental involvement, enhanced workforce readiness - and we’re helping hundreds of homeless families on the road to self sufficiency.”

These successes have encouraged the agency and its supporters to find ways to serve even more local families. To that end, the non-profit is striving to raise funds in the following amounts to provide, expand and deepen services in areas of town such as Frayser, Raleigh, Hickory Hill and Whitehaven over the next several years:

  • Site-based services, school-based initiatives and workforce readiness programs in under-resourced communities: $3.3 million
  • Homeless services: $1 million
  • Facilities: $900,000
  • Volunteer recruitment and training: $500,000
  • Foster care, adoption and counseling services: $300,000

“We are hopeful that the Love Your Neighborhood campaign will help us continue our critical work in support of local families in crisis,” says Hamp Holcomb, Agape board member and campaign chair. “We feel confident that the support we receive from current and new supporters will help us transform the city of Memphis the only way it can be done – one family at a time.”
